FAQ
Will the light work through smoke?
Our smoke alarm is so sensitive that it should give you enough warning
to get out of your property before the smoke becomes thick enough to impair
your vision.
Will the alarm go off when I cook?
Our alarm uses state-of-the-art technology that can distinguish between
cooking smells and smoke in most circumstances.
Do I need to test the smoke alarm?
Our smoke alarms display a green light to show that the alarm is functioning
and the battery is guaranteed for eight years. There is also a test button
that you can push if you wish.
How do I know if the light is working?
Our light fittings display a red light when the battery is charging and
also have a button for testing.
If the power fails and the lights go on, does the alarm go off too?
A blackout will not set off the alarm. The lights contain power sensors
separate from the smoke alarm, and when these sensors detect that the
main power has dropped out, then the lights will go on for approximately
two hours.
Do I have to replace the light after a blackout has triggered it?
No, as soon as the power comes back on the light will start recharging.
Blackouts don’t affect the life of the battery.
Why not combine the light and the smoke detector into one unit?
The best place to locate a smoke detector may not be the best place to
locate a light to help you escape your property. Keeping the two units
separate increases our flexibility in coming up with the safest combination
of alarms and lights for your home.
Are the alarms and lights obtrusive?
The alarms and lights are slimline and will be mounted unobtrusively on
the ceiling. Cabling is usually run between them in roof/wall cavities
and so will not be visible. There may be circumstances where this is not
possible, but we will discuss this with you and come up with the best
solution for your property.
